Monster Inc.

Hello everybody this time I’m going to talk about a great movie called Monster inc. I think this movie is kind of old but is very funny and an excellent movie. The director is Peter Docter and David Silverman, is produced by the Disney Pixar studio. I said this is a great movie because as we know is an animate movie something hard to created. In the movie are a lot of effects and of course shots and different angles that make the movie be more interesting and be more appreciated for the viewers, the genre or category of the movie is comedy because the propose is to always make the viewer laugh and a little of drama because are some problems in the movie and sad scenes.

SHORT FILMS

Hi everyone I’m going to talk about Short films, because I think is very important to know about them for our next project and the next year. The short film is a technical description coined in the North American film industry in the early period of cinema, generally refers to films between 20 and 40 minutes, but now is some excellent films of just 5 of 10 minutes too. In the short films the topics are often difficult and the more commercial films are usually avoided. filmmakers benefit from larger freedoms and can take higher risks, but they must rely on festival and art house exhibition to achieve public display.

This movie not only is a good story, it also has great angles and shots like over the shoulder, close up, medium shot, long shot, low angle, etc. the music of the movie is good and is according to what is happening in the scenes so it help to emphasize the scenes. They made a great work with the sounds and the shadows and lights. What I also think is that the characters of this movie help a lot to make the movie seen very natural and real.
MONTAGE
This time I would talk about Montage in film, I think is important to know that montage is a technique in film editing were series of shots are edited into a sequence to condense spaces. It combined the shots with special optical effects like dissolve, fades, split screens etc. and also music. The montage is also for the editor, they takes two pieces of film of tape and combines them to emphasize their meaning or what they want to transmit.

Colors in film
Hi film class, now I want to talk about colors in film. I think the used of colors in film is very important because had a signification, the color want to certain emotion in audiences when are watching a movie, the director usually used the red color to show anger and fear but also love. For the directors each color represents something, to give happiness, energy or maybe darkness and fear. So when we watch a movie we can see that the colors they used had a symbol that describes a character or a scene.

Voice-Over
Hi everybody this time I want to talk about voice-over on film, is also known as off-camera or off-stage commentary. This is a technique where a voice is used in a film but is not part of the narrative. The voice-over is speaking by a specialist voice actor. The filmmakers put the sound of a human voice over images shown on the screen that can be related to the images being shown or not. FILMMAKING
Hi everyone I would talk about filmmaking or film production. This is the process of making a film, from an initial story idea or commission, through scriptwriting, shooting, editing, directing and distribution to an audience. In general it involve a lot of people to do this work and takes from a few months to several years to complete. Filmmaking takes place all over the world in a huge range of economic, social, and political contexts, and using a variety of technologies and techniques. Film production or filmmaking occurs in five stages that are development were the script is written and drafted into a workable blueprint for a film. Pre-production that is when preparations are made for the shoot, in which cast and crew are hired, locations are selected, and sets are built. Then is production where the raw elements for the finished film are recorded. The post- production that is when The film is edited like when the production sound is edited, music tracks are composed, performed and recorded, if a film is sought to have a score sound effects are designed and recorded and any other computer-graphic visual effects are digitally added etc. Finally is the sales and distribution when the film is screened for potential buyers, is picked up by a distributor and reaches its cinema or home media audience.

TRAILERS (film)
Hi everybody today I want to talk about TRAILERS because I think is one of the most important thinks in film and in the promotions of movies. The term "trailer" comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a feature film screening, in general the trailers didn´t last too long there are just an advances of a movie that is not show on screen yet. The first trailer shown in a U.S. movie theater was in November 1913, when Nils Granlund produced a short promotional film for the musical The Pleasure Seekers. Trailers consist of a series of selected shots from the film being advertised. Since the purpose of the trailer is to attract an audience to the film, these excerpts are usually drawn from the most exciting, funny parts of the film but in abbreviated form and usually without producing spoilers. For this purpose the scenes are not necessarily in the order in which they appear in the film. A trailer has to achieve that in less than two and a half minutes, the maximum length allowed by the MPAA. Each studio or distributor is allowed to exceed this time limit once a year if they feel it is necessary for a particular film.

AWAKENINGS
Hello everyone this time I would talk about a great movie that I already saw today and is “awakening”. This movie was made in 1990 and was directed by Penny Marshall, the principal characters were Richard Libertini as Sidney and Robert De Niro as Leonard Lower. This movie is an American drama based on Oliver Sacks's 1973 memoir Awakenings. It tells the true story of British neurologist Oliver Sacks, fictionalized as American Malcolm Sayer and portrayed by Robin Williams who, in 1969, discovers beneficial effects of the then-new drug L-Dopa. Well this film is very interesting and called the people attention, this movie used a lot of sounds that give emphasis to the scenes and make them more interesting. The used of different shots and angles is also seen in this movie, like bird eye, over the shoulder, low angle, long shot, close up, extreme close up and others. This movie give you a lot to think about live, people and what problems a person can past and we even notice it. Also to don’t give up and always give the best you have, to be patient, to give love and never forget about the important people and family.

SILENT FILMS

Hi everybody today I’m going to talk about Silent Films, this type of film was the first films that were presented on screens. Silent film is a film with no synchronized recorded sound, especially spoken dialogue. The first projected sequential proto-movie was made by Edward Muybridge and was between 1877 and 1880. The art of motion pictures grew into full in the silent era before silent films were replaced by "talking pictures" in the late 1920s. The first narrative film was created by Louis Le Prince in 1888. Well because silent films had no synchronized sound for dialogue, onscreen titles were used to narrate story points, the most important points. Later on the title writer became a key professional in silent film and was often separate from the scenario writer who created the story, From the beginning, music was recognized as essential, contributing to the atmosphere and giving the audience vital emotion. Also an important point was that silent film actors emphasized body language and facial expression so that the audience could better understand what an actor was feeling and trying to say on screen.

This is very important because it help the film directors, cinematographers and television commercial advertising clients visualize the scenes and find potential problems before they occur. In the storyboarding process, most technical details involved in crafting a film or interactive media project can be efficiently described either in picture, or in additional text. Also the storyboards are animated with simple zooms and pans to simulate camera movement , these animations can be combined with available animatics, sound effects and dialog to create a presentation of how a film could be shot and cut together

We already know that film scenes consists of a sequence of shots and also that the shots are made in different perspectives and in the end they are joined together, and this joining is known as transitions. The transitions can be of a camara angle to another or just for a camara to another. And if you remember this joining of transitions are the work that the editor do. There is a technique that is used in film for the transitions and is to focus on a particular element that is consistent between shots and simple transition between shots is a straight cut that is the transitions between two shots. Another type of transitions is a fade, in which the overall value of the scene increases or decreases into a frame of just one color.

World War I (The Great War) Era Films

The pacifist mood began to change and the eventual US entry into the war in April of 1917 provided Hollywood with one of its greatest sources of plots - and profits. This was evidenced by the new hit song of the time, George M. Cohan's The propagandistic films served mostly as recruitment tools, and as emotional tirades against the enemy, distastefully suggesting that heroic American involvement would bring about victory, and serve as a crusade to 'make the world safe for democracy'. Americans were persuaded to buy 'liberty' war bonds, often by movie stars, to help finance the war.

Hollywood director D. W. Griffith's Hearts of the World was a sentimental, propagandistic film to encourage US entry into the European conflict of the first world war - it included actual battle footage filmed on location in 1917 on the outskirts of the war itself (with the cooperation of the British War Office and the French Government). Griffith's film expressed the effects of the war on a recruit, and displayed the viciousness of the Germans in the person of actor/director Erich von Stroheim, who played the part of a ruthless, cold-blooded, hateful officer - a "beastly Hun." The semi-documentary My Four Years in Germany (1918), the first real hit for Warner Bros' Studios, was presented as fact - it presumed to show the first-hand experiences of James Gerard, the American ambassador to Germany from 1913-1917, including his witnessing of innumerable and cruel German "atrocities" that were greatly exaggerated in re-enactments, although they appeared true when mixed with actual footage.

Film history
The story of Hollywood

When we hear the word Hollywood the first thing that pops in our minds is movies. There’s a reason why Los Angeles became the center of motion pictures. It all started with a few independent studios that ventured as far away as possible from the trust, mainly Thomas Edison and his lawsuits, and so they headed to L.A. to distribute, produce, and exhibit their movies.
The fact that Los Angeles was far away from New York helped make it the home for independent film studios this make also Hollywood been full of film factories.
Once Hollywood became the center of the film industry in the US, a system had to be established which introduces us to the studio system. The system was first and foremost designed to ensure the cost and quality of the movies being produced. Having a system made Hollywood a much more organized film industry than anywhere else in the world.
I found a video that talk about this and their are very interesting.

hello everybody in this homework i want to talk about an exelent movie called THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW in this movie we look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued. At the center of the story is a scientist , Professor Jack Hall, who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam, who was in New York as part of a competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all the challenges Dr. Hall faces, he's also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he's nearly the only one going north. This movie show us also what can happen to us if we continue destroid it so i love this movie because maybe is not really true but had great effects wonderful images and is something that can happen so we can think about it.

The History of the Motion Picture
The first machine patented in the United States that showed animated pictures or movies was a device called the "wheel of life" or "zoopraxiscope". Patented in 1867 by William Lincoln, moving drawings or photographs were watched through a slit in the zoopraxiscope. However, this was a far cry from motion pictures as we know them today. Modern motion picture making began with the invention of the motion picture camera.
The Frenchman Louis Lumiere is often credited as inventing the first motion picture camera in 1895. But in truth, several others had made similar inventions around the same time as Lumiere. What Lumiere invented was a portable motion-picture camera, film processing unit and projector called the Cinematographe, three functions covered in one invention.
The Cinematographe made motion pictures very popular, and it could be better be said that Lumiere's invention began the motion picture era. In 1895, Lumiere and his brother were the first to present projected, moving, photographic, pictures to a paying audience of more that one person.
The Lumiere brothers were not the first to project film. In 1891, the Edison company successfully demonstrated the Kinetoscope, which enabled one person at a time to view moving pictures. Later in 1896, Edison showed his improved
Vitascope projector and it was the first commercially, successful, projector in the U.S..

A WALK TO REMEMBER

Hi everybody I want to talk about "A walk to remember" , this movie is about a popular guy in a school that doesn't have purpose in his life and in his future so is held responsible and forced to participate in after-school community service activities as punishment, which include starring as the lead in the school play. Also participating in these activities is Jamie Sullivan, the reverends daughter who has great ambitions and nothing in common with him. When he decides to take his activities seriously, he asks Jamie for help and begins to spend most of his time with her. But he starts to develop strong feelings for her, something he did not expect to do. The two start a relationship, much to the chagrin of his old popular friends and Jamie's strict reverend father. But when a heart breaking secret becomes known that puts their relationship to the test, it is then that he and Jamie realize the true meaning of love and fate.

So for me is an excellent and beautiful movie because have real scenes and a problem that can happen to you and help you to take advantage of the things you have or people that love you.
FILM..!

Foundations of the Prolific Film Industry:

Films really blossomed in the 1920s, expanding upon the foundations of film from earlier years. Most US film production at the start of the decade occurred in or near Hollywood on the West Coast, although some films were still being made in New Jersey and in Astoria on Long Island (Paramount). By the mid-20s, movies were big business (with a capital investment totaling over $2 billion) with some theatres offering double features. By the end of the decade, there were 20 Hollywood studios, and the demand for films was greater than ever. Most people are unaware that the greatest output of feature films in the US occurred in the 1920s and 1930s (averaging about 800 film releases in a year) - nowadays, it is remarkable when production exceeds 500 films in a year.
Throughout most of the decade, silent films were the predominant product of
the film industry, having evolved from vaudevillian roots. But the films were becoming bigger (or longer), costlier, and more polished. They were being manufactured, assembly-line style, in Hollywood's 'entertainment factories,' in which production was broken down and organized into its various components (writing, costuming, makeup, directing, etc.).
